The walled city of Volterra has a rich Etruscan history. Similar to San Gimignano, it is another one of those gorgeous medieval towns that you walk around in and feel absolutely transported back in time. The city has so much charm and of course there are tons of shops, as well as cafes and restaurants to pause and take it all in. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to stop and eat but I hear the food culture in Volterra is amazing and budget friendly as well.
Some notable locations to visit are the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Palazzo dei Priori/ Piazza dei Priori, museums such as the Etruscan Museum, and the Volterra City Museum and Art Gallery. Slightly north of the old town is also the Roman Theater and of course outside the walls of the city are more of the stunning Tuscan vistas.
Volterra is famous worldwide for its alabaster. It is available for purchase as beautiful souvenirs and sculptures in many of the local shops. There is also a museum featuring some alabaster creations within the city.
Volterra is thought by many to have been the filing site of the Twilight series New Moon, however it was actually filmed in the town of Montepulciano. Aesthetically it definitely still fits the bill.

As mentioned in my post from Lajatico, I wore this white sundress with the beautiful eyelet detailing and feminine ruffle speak for itself with minimalistic sandals and a leather clutch. I think it is a perfect and effortless summer look. One additional thing I will say about travel style in general is a simple leather clutch like this is really perfect for sightseeing and this camel brown color matches with everything. It fits the essentials but doesn’t feel overloaded or get in the way while you walk around. The wristlet detail is also great to feel secure from pickpockets.
