I think we can all agree that New York City during the holidays is one of the most magical places on earth. If you have considered making the Big Apple your holiday travel destination, let me offer you some inspiration outside of your common Rockefeller Center tree visit and a Broadway show. Today’s option isn’t the most festive, however it is definitely a unique one that is worth checking out while it is still around.
The Van Gogh Immersive Exhibit is one that has recieved lots of hype since opening in the fall and rightfully so. I thankfully got a chance to visit before it closes and it is absolutely incredible. This immersive digital art exhibition merges state-of-the-art technology, theatrical storytelling, and world-class animation to create a way to experience Van Gogh’s world renowned work unlike any other viewing.

The motion and digital graphics implemented in combination with the most perfect soundtrack transports you to not only another time period, but another reality. The exhibit involves a few rooms, each showing the same reel of film/art, with only subtle differences in vantage point of how you see things, like different mirrored sculptures which reflect the art off and a room that has you immersed in the art from floor to ceiling.

Basically this exhibit is one you just simply plop on a cushion and sit back and take it in. There is also a bar where you can grab a drink to further just relax into the experience. I found it to be not only beautiful and intrguiging but quite meditative with how everything was presented.

There are also tons of activities and segments for kids like stations where you can draw and color inside a Van Gogh sketch, an area displaying fashion inspired by Van Gogh and of course a gift shop and and cafe as well.

The exhibit is only said to be open now through January 2nd. I definitely wouldn’t skip out if you have the chance to go. You can get tickets here.

For the outfit I went with a cute sweater vest over a fitted turtleneck. I think it gave me an old school artsy aesthetic (if I had to categorize how I’d explain the look) but a little more modernized and fashionable with this leather aline skirt and high boots.
