NYC Eats: Spanish Tapas At Boqueira

April 21, 2022

Boqueria is kind of hard to miss in a lot of locations. I mean a huge rose arch way in the middle of NYC says a lot. But I am so happy that it caught my attention because I am absolutely obsessed with this place now. For starters, I love tapas and shareable plates in general. It is my preferred method when dining out because I love trying a bunch of things and am a bad decision maker. So the Spanish style tapas of Boqueria already has me intrigued.

You’ll be happy to know that the food and the sangria did not disappoint in the slightest. In fact I am completely obsessed with it. Not a single thing on the menu was bad, not even eh so-so. Each thing that we ordered was delicious and spoiler if you can’t tell by my enthusiasm, I highly recommend this place and all the food that I tried.

DÁTILES CON BEICON
Dates stuffed with almonds and Valdeón blue cheese, wrapped in bacon

I have a new addition to stuffed dates and it all started here. That sweet savory combo was just perfect.

CROQUETAS CREMOSAS
Creamy croquettes; three each of mushroom and Serrano ham

They come together and you’ll love them both. They are so rich, decadent and flavorful I can’t say enough good things.

PINTXOS MORUNOS
Seared Colorado lamb skewers, pickled shallots, salsa verde

Another winner in my book. These lamb skewers were super tasty, moist and cooked to perfection and even the bread underneath soaked up a lot of the juices making that a great bite also. The shrimps were also fantastic and in a sauce so delicious worth the extra carbs in bread to soak it up.

GAMBAS AL AJILLO
Shrimp, garlic, brandy, lobster reduction, and Guindilla pepper in olive oil
PAELLA DE MARISCOS
Bomba rice, monkfish, sepia, squid, shrimp, clams, mussels, saffron, salsa verde

One of the best paellas I have had. You have to order it upon arrival when you place your appetizers order because they really have it made to order. Definitely save room for this and get it. The biggest standout to me was surprisingly the rice. It was just loaded with layers of flavor and I even loved that little crunchy/toasted texture it had as well.

Also like I said make sure you get the sangria as well – a pitcher if you ask me! It was just perfection.
