Happy first day of Fall everyone! While summer may be over but traveling doesn’t have to be. To kick off the season we have this guest post by Jassica Mendez on where to visit this Fall, especially if you are single.
When summer and its hot days are over, it’s the ideal time to travel to new places and meet new people. Off-season prices settle in, leaves change color, and festivals are on the calendar in many places across the United States. Furthermore, because there are fewer tourists, many destinations that are too crowded during the summer become ideal for a fall trip. But where to go? Well, it all depends on what you like to do as a traveler. Do you want to head to the mountains and watch the changing leaves spectacle, or would you prefer to head to the beach for a few more days of sunbathing? If you just can’t decide, here is a list of the best places to visit this fall as a single. Check them out, pick your favorite, pack your bags, and let your new adventure begin!
- Austin, Texas
As the Texas summer heat fades, the weather becomes ideal for travel, and Austin transforms into a slice of heaven. And because of Austin’s festival vibe, you will never feel alone in this city. For instance, if you enjoy live music, Austin has a plethora of venues where you can see everything from renowned musicians to local bands. Also, during the day, you can explore South Congress’s eccentric boutiques and eateries. There are also many food truck trailer parks in Texas’ capital where you can get a bite to eat. However, you should know that something magical happens in Austin at dusk. The Mexican free-tail bats that live beneath the South Congress Bridge take their nightly flight. They are a spectacular sight, and you can admire them until late October.

- Naples, Florida
Florida is an excellent destination for girls’ trips, family vacations, and even solo travel. However, the top choice for a single looking for a beach vacation this fall is Naples. Naples is a small community in southwest Florida that was rated second on a list of the safest places to live in the United States due to its low crime rates. However, Naples will not only make you feel safe, but it also offers much to do. For instance, you can visit the beach at Naples Pier and swim in the area’s famously tranquil seas. Or, if you’re looking for a more exciting activity, you can schedule a dolphin cruise. It’s an unforgettable experience that you just have to try.
- San Francisco, California
San Francisco is always lovely, and there are lots of things to see and do all year, but the ideal time to visit is in the fall. The temperatures are milder than during the wet winters, and there is less morning fog than in the summer. Moreover, because of its landscape, San Francisco boasts high-elevation spots, ideal for picturesque views of the city and the Bay Area.
If you are planning an extended stay, you don’t need to spend all of your time in San Francisco, and you can go exploring. And since we mentioned the Bay, there are great places in the area that you have to visit. For instance, Golden Gate Park is home to many beautiful gardens, including the Dhalia Garden and the Shakespeare Garden. At the same time, you can take a walk down one of the most crooked streets in the world, Lombard Street. And if you want to go on a shopping spree, you should add Union Square to your list of fun things to do in the Bay Area.

- Salt Lake City, Utah
Autumn in Salt Lake City, Utah, brings three things: beautiful foliage, fewer tourists, and Oktoberfest. And even if fall isn’t the busiest season for Salt Lake City, prices are lower and hot locations are less crowded, but everything is still gorgeous. For example, in September, you may attend the Utah State Fair and enjoy the annual rodeo. Furthermore, you can also enjoy Oktoberfest, a famous family-friendly celebration that includes entertainment, food, and, of course, plenty of beers. The lovely event takes place every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., from mid-August through mid-October. So hurry up if Salt Lake City is one of the places you want to visit this fall as a single. You wouldn’t want to miss Oktoberfest.
- New York, New York
With the summer heat behind us, autumn is an ideal time to visit New York City. Explore the city’s boutiques, cafés, and museums, or unwind with a Broadway musical. And if you want to experience the canopy of changing leaves from the comfort of your bed, book accommodation near Central Park with park views. Of course, you’ll also want to enjoy some coffee and wander across the park, admiring the skyline views from among the gorgeous trees. Moreover, if seeing New York in the fall is on your bucket list, why not do it in style with a Hudson River cruise? There is nothing more beautiful than admiring the city from the water. And if you enjoy eating out but want to maintain a healthy diet, you are in luck. NYC abounds in healthy restaurant choices.

- Seattle, Washington
Seattle is the ideal destination for those who wish to be near nature without compromising big-city conveniences. You can spend some days seeing Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, the Museum of Pop Culture, or the Seattle Aquarium. Then, you can board a ferry, ride the Seattle Great Wheel, or fast travel using the Seattle Monorail. You may even go hiking in the vibrant Japanese Garden or the Washington Park Arboretum. It has lots of Instagramable spots that don’t require filters. Or, if it’s a typical Seattle rainy day, you can spend quality time indoors sipping pumpkin beer, watching a cabaret performance, or exploring the Seattle Central Library.
- Maui, Hawaii
Let’s be honest: there’s never a wrong time to visit Hawaii. It is beautiful, has enchanting beaches and lovely villages. Furthermore, Maui truly shines during October, when lodging and flights are cheaper, and you don’t have crowds. Maui is known for its 30 miles of swimmable beaches, beautiful hiking routes, and breathtaking landscape. You may learn to surf, kayak, and snorkel here, as well as travel the famous road to Hana or take a helicopter tour. In addition, if you visit Maui during October, you might be able to attend the Maui County Fair or the Hawaii Food Festival. These are great activities that you should not miss this fall.
