Newly opened in Hudson Yards, O’ Toole’s Way is an Irish-American-influenced restaurant bar which focuses on innovative dishes with traditional techniques and a seasonal cocktail menu. The indoor seating area and bar are very spacious and beautiful with lovely floor tiling, exposed brick walls, and an open kitchen concept. The terrace is beautiful and open year-round with views of the Highline and twinkling lights overhead. With such an inviting atmosphere I am happy to share that the food and cocktails did not disappoint.

quinoa – hummus – dried cranberry – broccoli – toasted almonds –
carrot – maple dressing | 18
The Highline Salad was a perfectly composed and delicious meal in and of itself. It had great textural elements and nice crunch from the broccoli and some nuttiness from the toasted almonds and quinoa. Combined with the pepperiness of the arugula, countered by the sweetness of the cranberries and sweet potatoes, and an extra twist of the maple dressing which was very unique and reminiscent of a tahini flavor, there were some really wonderful and complex flavors.

14oz ny strip – grilled, sliced – crostini – thumbit sauce | 48
This sirloin on toast was also a nice dish. I liked how there was almost a nice butter flavor to the meat and the tang from the sauce, which reminded me of a horseradish-like sauce, added a pop of flavor as well. I also especially loved the extra hit of salt on top, a small addition that made all the difference. Granted that it is a very simple dish, I did find it to be a little pricey for what you get. I like the bite you get with the toast, but all the while I don’t think that that much bread is necessary for some good steak. I also prefer my steak a touch more rare, but that was more on me for not specifying. It is solid and a nice shareable style entree.

mozzarella – thyme – basil | 20
I loved the pizza with vegetables and found it to be really nice and fresh. The herby pesto was so tasty and I enjoyed the extra parmesan on top and the nutty flavor it gives. Overall the pizza is mild but with a really lovely herbaceous flavor.

toasted coconut – chantilly cream | 10
The key lime pie was absolutely outstanding. It was an excellent rendition that wasn’t overly tangy and tart but had just the right amount of acidic kick. It was also loaded with whipped cream, which added a nice richness and helped cut through the citrus flavor. I also loved how beautiful and buttery the crust was and enjoyed the addition of the coconut flakes. This one is a must order.

grey goose vodka / yuzu / honey / lavender / lemon / blue cornflower | 18
ANGELS ENVY SMOKED OLD FASHIONED
demerara cherry bitters | 19
The Angels Envy Old Fashioned had a subtle smokiness but was actually a very light drink. The lavender note of the Wet the Tea cocktail was really lovely and it was also light and refreshing with a nice tartness from the lemon balanced by the sweetness of the honey. I definitely find it to be a great drink for summer.
Overall we had a really lovely experience at O’Toole’s Way. The waitstaff and manager were so friendly and attentive, which also added to creating a wonderful experience.

Be sure to check out their block party this Thursday June 22nd to kickstart the summer!
