Fashion week closed out with another epic show featuring emerging Thai designers Vinn Patararin, Matter Makers, Merge, and Vickteerut, each bringing their own style and flair to the runway. Naturally the One Night In Bangkok single had to kick off the show and while each designer only gave us a taste of their talents with eight to ten looks, each brought something special to the table.
Vinn Patararin pushes the boundaries of design by merging fashion, architecture, and technology. With a team of design duo Vinn, with an architectural background, and Patararin, bringing the artistic background, they integrate to create some stunning fashion pieces. Their laser cut in textiles, such as leather, seems to be a signature of theirs.
Matter Makers, a very new addition to the fashion scene, only debuting in 2023, is here to make a statement with their bold streetwear. This collection’s aesthetic felt very 90s grunge. Lots of leather, belting, and oversized garments. It was a very “cool girl without trying too hard” collection for sure.
Merge currently reigns in denim in Thailand and goes far beyond your Canadian tuxedo. The brand serves up fresh renditions of head-to-toe denim, and definitely plenty of sex appeal. It felt very east meets west, but when i mean west, I felt a very strong Western (like cowboy) influence. The brand also strongly promotes messages of self-love and embracing one’s individuality, offering a very extensive size range for both men and women, making it one of Thailand’s most inclusive and body positive brands.
Vickteerut leans minimalist with impeccable tailoring and feminine silhouettes. Some pieces leaned ethereal and futuristic elegance, some leaned very Jackie O, and there were a few funky styles as well, like the bauble skirt and sequin skirt.
In fine Kelly Cutrone show fashion, Anna Delvey closed out each of the designers and thus New York Fashion Week. I would say it was a solid end to the festivities.
