Valentines Day is not for everyone and the best way to get over those V-Day woes is to go out and spend an awesome time with your girls! The day I have planned is jam packed with activities that will leave you full, filled with tons of laughs and memories, photos, and maybe even a little tipsy. You definitely will not worried about that man you may or may not have at home.
Start With Brunch At Rhum
Rhum is a Caribbean inspired restaurant that will leave you feeling as though you’re transported out of cold New York and on some island resort. Especially if you opt in for the Rhum punch carafe, you can start day dreaming about it because those can definitely start hitting you. The menu is also really big and intriguing. We ordered our picks off the brunch menu and really enjoyed everything across the board. If you’re not into eggs and more brunch style food the full menu is also available with lots of great options as well.
If you haven’t noticed there are lots of cute and photogenic decor to capture the memories you made here.
Next Head For Cupcakes At Small Cakes
Ok yea it is kind of a food focused day, and when I say that I really mean a dessert focused day. Isn’t that kind of the point of Valentines Day any way – chocolates and sweets? Small cakes makes cupcakes and small batch ice cream both made daily and from seasonal flavors and ingredients. We naturally tried both at the same time in the Cupcake Smash, which is one whole cupcake cut in half with 2 scoops of your choice of ice cream. I chose the hot fudge sundae cupcake (chocolate cake filled with fudge topped with signature buttercream frosting, rainbow sprinkles, fudge, and a cherry on top) and the chocolate ice cream.
Well you can imagine how delicious it was.
Have Some Laughs And Stupid Photos At Paperdoll Curiosity Shop
Exactly what it sounds like this place has a bunch of random knick nacks and a funky retro vibe. You can definitely lose track of time looking through the items here. There are some hilarious options to give as gag gifts and actually some really nice vintage inspired designs as well. The decor is literally as random, but surprisingly photogenic for great memories. It’s definitely worth stopping in.
Get Back To Drinking At Whisky Neat
Not just a local dive bar, this spot has a nice but casual ambiance, its own large and intriguing menu and of course a great full bar. We stopped in for a whiskey cocktail (I ordered the Montauk Lemonade) and ended up ordering some appetizers too, you know to soak up the booze. The food was also really great too and I wouldn’t doubt you’d be set with any option you choose. Our choices were all solid.
slow cooked braised short rib balls panko breaded and served with spicy horseradish sauce and shaved pecorino
iceberg lettuce, vine-ripe tomato, bacon, bleu cheese, chives
with paprika and chives
marinated sliced skirt steak on a fresh garlic baguette, topped with melted mozzarella, sauteed onions and sliced marinated portobello mushroom
Top It Off And Get Cookies From Duchess Cookies For The Road
These cookies are absolutely insane. I definitely recommend eating them fresh because they are warm with a gooey center. There are tons of options they put out daily. All are really unique as well and every single one is delicious. My recommendation: At least one of each. Two of each if you’re feeling frisky. There are instructions to store and reheat them at home and the shelf life is pretty long if you wanted to have some stock for a rainy day. The shop is also super cute too so if you haven’t taken enough Instagram worthy photos for the day, this could be another location for some photo-ops.
Shop Similar Styles
Nothing in the Patchogue area seems to be overly dressy and you really can dress in what you feel comfortable with. I wore leather leggings, a booty, and a chunky sweater. I added some gunmetal accessories to add a little touch of effort. In the end it was nothing too over the top, but also not boring or basic. Definitely comfortable, and I think occasion appropriate.
