I love discovering beauty brands outside of the mainstream market and recently have had the pleasure of coming by Idun Minerals. Founded in Sweden, IDUN Minerals prides itself on using pure, high-quality ingredients free from harmful chemicals. I think a huge ethos of the brand is not sacrificing whether it be in product or the packaging to have a product that is works good, is good for you, and good for the planet too.
How many times can good be used in a sentence.
The brand’s philosophy revolves around creating makeup that enhances natural beauty without compromising skin health. Their mineral based products and including ingredients like vitamins and nourishing oils, the products are perfect for those with sensitive skin and for those who prefer a more natural approach to beauty.
Another standout feature of IDUN Minerals is their commitment to sustainability. From eco-friendly packaging to their focus on cruelty-free production, this brand goes the extra mile to ensure that beauty isn’t at the expense of the environment.
While many competitors in the category have fallen short, I am thoroughly impressed with both the performance and the packaging of the products. You definitely don’t feel the tradeoff in choosing these products.
Product Rundown
Moisturizing Mineral Skin Tin
Just as every skin tint no the market tends to be, this product had a very light coverage. This product just added a touch of balance and even tone to the face. Surprisingly enough though, even though I was goin for a natural makeup look, you do end up looking very put together by the end and I was surprised at how long it all lasted after a very long day. Formulated with skin-loving ingredients, including antioxidants, Vitamin C and Vitamin E to protect the skin and is available in 8 shades.
Perfect Undereye Concealer
The perfect undereye concealer while very light coverage leaves a nice brightness under the eyes and almost smooths and blurs the fine lines, which attests to the claim: “The moisturizing formula seamlessly blends into the skin correcting imperfections, brightening dark under eye circles and blurring blemishes without settling into facial lines, giving a radiant, illuminated complexion.” While I dont see it being a go too for blemish coverage it works fantastic under the eye when going for a no makeup makeup or every day look.
Mineral Bronzer
The bronzer was so smooth and almost reminded me of a cream product in how seamless it blends into the skin and the airbrush finish it provides. It is formulated with ultra purified minerals, so again great for the skin. It has buildable coverage and is available in a four shades to either warm up the skin or give a more contoured affect.
Mineral Blush
This blush is PIGMENTED and stunning if I may say. Even though the color pay off is intense it blends out effortlessly and looks beautiful on the skin. “Inspired by the colours of beautiful berries, each of these shades of blush offer a rich pop of colour. A carefully curated vegan selection of shades formulated with ultra-purified minerals, for a colour awakening result on all skin types, even the most sensitive.” I personally love the shade range and think that there is a shade for almost any look and season you are going for
Creamy EyeLiner
I love the creaminess and pigmentation of the liner. It goes on like butter with a really great point and precision and is easy to blend out. While it didn’t last perfectly inside the waterline, it was able to still leave a little definition by the end of a long day and night.
Mascara Vatn Volume
I think this product was a huge standout to me. On the first swipe I achieved so much length and volume. I love the brown color for every day and was also impressed with how it lasted. It is a tubey mascara so taking it off was also effortless as well. It is enriched with shea butter and castor oil to nourish and care for the lashes.
Browgel Perfect Eyebrows
I think this is a fantastic brow gel that really locks the hairs in place without being crunchy. The feathered brow look is not my style but I’d imagine this is a great product to achieve that look. In the photo my brows may not look that impressive because I really did want to keep it one brand without adding additional products, but trust me it works great.
Creme Lipstick
I am obsessed with everything about this lipstick: the color, the creamy consistency, the pigmentation. It also has an impressive lasting power. It is enriched with highly purified mineral pigments, moisturizing shea butter and Nordic cloudberry oil, so it also feels nourashing to the lips, perfect for the winter months,
Lipliner
Another product I am immediately obsessed with. The lipliner also had incredible precision, creaminess, pigment and lasting power. It is everything you look for in a lipliner but added benefits of ingredients like jojoba oil keeping your lips soft and moisturized during use. I also love the shade range and think that all the essential colors are met.
Ready Set Refresh Setting Spray
I mean what is there to truly evaluate on a spray. It has a nice even mist, no disturbing scent, and is a great product when you need to, as the name says, refresh and re-hydrate the skin. Its claims to make the makeup last longer could also very well be true because I was impressed for such a natural base and look how the makeup strong after almost 10 hours of wear. Plus similarly to the other products it is formulated with skin-loving ingredients, including 3% niacinamide that helps strengthen skin and improve complexion.
Brushes
I also tested out a few of their brushes and will be concise with my thoughts here. The brushes are beautiful, really soft and feel amazing on the skin. The bristles are made of synthetic Dermocura® which is the most advanced fiber compared to natural hair and former synthetic fiber. Their ethos still rains true in the brushes with these fibers hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin as well as the handle bring made from 100% recycled plastic and aluminum.
In a nut shell all of them are great but here are some specific notes on the ones I tried:
- Foundation Brush: Nice and soft but as the skin tint is already light coverage, this soaks up quite a bit of product. I will definitely be using with my other foundations.
- The Triangle Concealer Brush: Such an incredible shape for getting into the undereye
- The Kabuki Brush: Same thoughts – interchangeable with the foundation brush to me
- The Powder Brush: Gives a great even wash of color
