Happy Cinco De Mayo. Today I am sharing a spot that is as authentic as it gets. Don’t be fooled by the outside, Tequila Sunrise is a great spot for some good Mexican food in Queens and serves up some great drinks as well. The portions are also great for a pretty good price as well. With Mother’s Day only a few days a way this could definitely be a fun dinner idea if Mexican food is her preference. The vibe is definitely more casual and space is quite large but be warned this place fills up so arrive early or try to make a reservation.

ASSORTED APPETIZER PLATTER: NACHOS, CARNITAS, CHIMICHANGAS, QUESADILLAS, CHORIZO & GUACAMOLE TOPPED WITH SOUR CREAM
This appetizer was a little unimpressive. None of the options were particularly wowing me and I definitely you are better off mixing and matching other options off the menu. For appetizers I would DEFINITELY recommend the Mexican Street Corn and the Ceasar Salad (both not photographed). These two were both packed with flavor. The corn comes drenched in a cheesy chile seasoning and although you may think Ceasar salad and Italian food go hand in hand, this one was one of my favorites and was drenched in such a delicious dressing. I also tried one of the quesadillas, another delicious starter option

12″ SPINACH TORTILLA STUFFED WITH REFRIED BEANS, MEXICAN RICE, CHEESE AND A CHOICE OF CHICKEN OR BEEF TOPPED SOUR CREAM AND GUACAMOLE
The burrito was definitely a solid choice and a hefty portion but I think the steak was my favorite and was really tasty and cooked to perfection. Also I am a big rice and beans lover so for me it is a definite order at any Mexican restaurant and a solid choice at Tequila sunrise as well.
