The ONLY Sunscreen I Use Best For Acne Prone Skin

National SPF Day is tomorrow. They find a holiday for everything don’t they.

SPF is largely overlooked but should be the holy grail of every skin routine for both men and women alike. Aside from preventing skin cancer as an obvious reason, wearing SPF daily (yes in the winter as well) will keep your skin tone even avoiding dark spots or redness, stops DNA damage to the skin, and also prevents premature aging and wrinkles. However, as important as it is, sunscreen is notorious for clogging pores and leading to break outs. Chemical sunscreens can also be harsh and irritating. Some that do end up working well have other downfalls like leaving a white cast or clumping up under makeup.

The Elta MD Broad Spectrum SPF 46 does none of the above and is my HOLY GRAIL sunscreen. I have back ups and back ups of this and feel 0 need to experiment or look any further than this product. For someone who has very sensitive skin and does tend to break out from SPF, I have never had an issue with this product. It does what it is intented to do protecting the skin from the sun, avoiding sun burns and damage, provided you’re diligent reapplying when needed and in addition I notice tons of other benefits. Before I get to my experience, here is a little more info about the product.

  • UVA/UVB Sun Protection
  • Calms and protects acne prone skin
  • Leaves no residue
  • Fragrance Free
  • Oil Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Noncomedogentic

Standout Ingredients

  • Zinc Oxide
  • Niacinamide (vitamin B3)
  • Hyaluronic Acid
  • Vitamin E

So much more than an SPF, this product contains ingredients that actually promote healthy looking skin and that calm irritated acne prone skin. It is packed with ingredients that do well more than prevent damage from the sun. Hyalouronic acid attracts and retains moisture keeping the skin hydrated and supple. Similarly, niacinimide counters dry damaged skin and is an anti-inflamitory that reduces redness. A boost in the anti aging factor, Vitamin E is an antioxidant that reduces free radicals.

As you can even see in the photos, the sunscreen is incredibly lightweight and lotion like. Once you rub it in, it leaves the skin looking glistening and hydrated. There is no white cast and it works really well with any and all my makeup products. In fact, it is an added benefit to my routine providing that extra hydration and glow underneath to my makeup look.

On the topic of a little sun safety  I figured I’d mention my favorite faux tanner. It allegedly diminishes the appearance of cellulite as well. I highly recommend you check it out. It is so natural and doesn’t require you rinsing off again.

Although I am quite content with this product, the Elta range has tons of other variations including a tinted SPF and many other skincare products.  If they work as well as this, I am sure that they will be winners.

Have you guys ever tried anything off the Elta line? Any SPF that you swear by? Let us know down below.
