Impactful simplicity that is classic and that transcends time is the name of the game with Kevan Hall. He pulled off yet another wonderful show. “Diamonds Are Forever” in the background transported us back to the glamorous ambiance of the 1950s, while models walked down in garments in an array of gemstone colors of emerald, sapphire, ruby and amethyst, a really nice juxtaposition to their retro silhouettes. I also appreciate the play on using these unexpected hues with textures such as velvet and fur.
I for one am also a huge fan of playing with these colors but grounding them in a black to make for a very NYC chic aesthetic. The print story also is reminiscent of abstract art and further modernizes the collection. As always, Hall definitely paid attention to detail and knew how to catch the eye, such as in the little crystalline materials mimicking diamonds and adding color shifts and a dazzling prismatic effect, even subtly such as when added to the bows, as well as the foiled metallics, which of course was show-stopping in gold, but I also loved the indigo-like shade as well.
I love how the range in this collection brings a woman from day to night, from the office to a black tie function. All the bases are covered and beautifully done.
