NYFW Menswear Recap: Kenneth Nicholson

Finally! The NYFW dust has settled and I am back providing you all with my NYFW recaps. This year I collaborated with The Garnette Report. Be sure to check out my recaps for that site as well here and all their other amazing coverage for Fashion Week and beyond. Also be sure to check out the instagram highlights at angelica_e for live footage from the shows!

My first show of the season was actually a menswear show viewing Kenneth Nicholson’s FW2020 Collection titled, “From Grandmas Couch.” The presentation started with metallic painted men boxing each other while models meandered around them. Nicholson found inspiration from so many different avenues such as historical events, politics, and pop culture – unrelated but coexisting harmoniously.

There was definitely a lot going on and so many points of contrast but it all seemed to work. There were lots of great pops of color, prints, and textural elements in the fabric and accents. As a female, I may be biased but I REALLY enjoyed the womenswear pieces. I would have worn each any every single thing displayed. I especially swooned over the mesh and houndstooth-esque print mash up.

I find Mens Fashion Week to be a bit more laid back than the rest of NYFW. I decided to keep it clean, comfortable, and casual with the long velour/velvet puffer, black destructed hem jeans and my beloved EQT sneakers as the “pop” of the outfit, along with my bright red eyeshadow.
